Welcome to your weekly roundup of the biggest stories from Netflix’s top 10 hourly figures for the week ending December 25, 2022.

Netflix updates its Top 10 Stats page weekly with 40 new figures per hour for the top movies and shows from the past seven days. If you want to easily browse the top 10 hourly data, visit our tool.

This week, Netflix also released its Top 40 list for the entire year, which we’ve rounded up here.

Note: In this report on Netflix hours watched from December 19 to December 25, 2022, we will use «Full View Equivalent» or CVE, expressed in millions. That means we divide the hours watched advertised by Netflix by the running time of the movies or series. It allows for better comparisons between movies and series, but it is not an audience metric. It is the minimum number of viewings if they were all complete from the first second to the last of the movie or season.

The highly publicized sequel to knives out had a decent opening weekend, with 35.5 million CVEs in just three days. That’s good enough to be the sixth-best release for any movie released on a Friday since June 2021 and the third-best of 2022.

Netflix released the lists of the most watched movies of 2022, and if we compare glass onion for the best, his pitching is quite good, ranking among Hustle Y the gray man.

His second week will be key, but he doesn’t have much competition ahead of him. My initial estimate for your first 28 days is around the 90M-100M mark.

2. Emily in Paris come back strong with season 3

Fans around the world of Emily in Paris were at the Rendez-Vous for the show’s return for its third season. With 21.6 million CVEs in over five days, that’s exactly what Season 2 did a year ago.

The series is already renewed for a fourth season, but even without it, its renewal would have been a sure thing. Health!

3. The Witcher: Origin of Blood It’s starting slow, could this be The Witcher’s first flop?

It is quite difficult to analyze the numbers to The Witcher: Origin of Blood since the series premiered on Sunday, the last day during which Netflix records the hours watched.

So, with just one day under its belt, it launched with 4.7 million CVEs.

Since Sunday isn’t a typical release day for Netflix, it’s impossible to compare that one-day number to anything else. Still, we can try to compare it with the second season of The Wizard and as you can see here, origin of blood it didn’t really get all the fans of the main series to see it.

Its short length and rather cool critical reception also mean it could go off the charts pretty quickly.

4. Season 4 of I am an assasin it’s a season 3 copycat

Let’s call this week the week of docu-series season 4-like graphics. I am an assasin it landed with 3.5 million CVEs through its first five days, putting it on the same trajectory as season three.

It may fall off the charts next week, but if Netflix was happy enough with Season 3’s numbers, it might be just as happy here.

5. alice on the border is the joker of the week

alice on the border it returned last week with a second season that launched with 7.2 million CVEs.

It’s a bit early to see how it will evolve and how this release fared against other series as we are missing a few series to compare. Its second week will bring more certainty about its fate, especially if it is renewed for a third season.
