Las Vegas police will not file criminal charges after singer Britney Spears accused a member of Saint Anthony Spurs phenom Victor Wembanyama’s security team of backhanding her in the face when she walked up to him for a photo on Wednesday night.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department issued a statement Friday indicating that it has concluded its investigation into a “alleged battery” incident that took place Wednesday night at a popular restaurant in Las Vegas, adding that “no charges would be filed.”

According to an incident report obtained by Fox News Digital, a person inside Spears’ camp told police that the security guard “hit” her “in the face with a clenched fist.” The person also noted that after they sat down for dinner, the security guard came over to apologize.
But a member of Spears’ security told police “it wasn’t a punch or a clenched fist” and that the pop singer’s hand was “pushed off.”
The incident report also noted that security footage showed the security guard pushing “Spears’ hand away from the player without looking, causing Britney’s hand to slam into her face.”

Police update continues Spear’s statement who was assaulted by Spurs security personnel.
“I am aware of the player’s statement in which he mentions ‘I grabbed him from behind’, but I just tapped him on the shoulder. His security then punched me in the face without looking back, in front of a crowd. He almost knocked me over, causing me to my glasses come off my face,” Spears wrote in a statement posted on her social media.
“People surround me all the time. In fact, that night. I was surrounded by a group of at least 20 fans. My security team didn’t hit any of them.”
Wembanyama told reporters earlier that he did not know Spears was the person involved in the incident and that he remembered being grabbed from behind before his security guard “pushed” her.

“I didn’t see what happened because I was walking straight and I didn’t stop. That person grabbed me from behind, not by the shoulder. He grabbed me from behind,” she said.
“I only know that security pushed her. I don’t know how hard, but security pushed her. I didn’t stop to look so I could go inside and have a nice dinner.”
Spears said she did not receive an apology from Wembanyama, who will make his Spurs debut during the team’s Summer League game against the charlotte hornets Friday night.

TMZ first reported that Spears had been “beaten up” by a member of Wembanyama’s security. That member was later identified by the outlet as Spurs team security director Damian Smith. The report was later updated to clarify that security footage allegedly showed Smith pushing Spears’ hand away, causing her hand to slam into her face.
Spears’ husband, Sam Asghari, also posted a statement on social media condemning the incident.
She later posted a video to her Instagram Stories of Spears interacting with her own fans, saying, “Celebrities are only celebrities because of the people and the fans. She has never in her 25 years of true stardom treated anyone with disrespect. That’s how people treat each other.”
Spears said in her statement that she saw Wembanyama in the lobby of his hotel and then at the restaurant where she wanted to “congratulate him on his success.”
